Zayn Malik Cancels US Tour and Shortens UK Dates Following Hospital Photo

Zayn Malik has announced the cancellation of his upcoming US solo tour and the reduction of his UK arena shows after recent hospitalisation. The former One Direction singer shared an update on Instagram explaining the need to reassess his schedule and focus on recovery.

Tour Changes and Health Update

Malik revealed that he is working to become “better and stronger than before” but must reduce the number of performances on his Konnakol tour, named after his latest album. He has not specified the exact reason for the cancellations, though he has previously postponed shows due to “extreme anxiety.”

A photo of Malik in hospital was shared on an official updates page about two weeks ago. A week later, a comment attributed to him mentioned a “long week” and that he was still “unexpectedly recovering.” His recent Instagram post thanked fans for their “prayers and well-wishes,” stating, “I’ve felt it and it’s meant the world. I’ve been at home recovering and I’m doing well and will be better and stronger than before.”

Revised Tour Dates and Fan Reactions

Originally, Malik’s biggest-ever solo tour was set to include 31 dates worldwide, starting at Manchester’s AO Arena in May. The rescheduled tour will now begin on 23 May with only nine dates. His first UK show will be at London O2 on 23 May, followed by a performance in Manchester the next day.

Shows in Glasgow, Birmingham, and Dublin have been cancelled, while concerts in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Brazil are still planned to proceed.

Fans have expressed disappointment over the cancellations. Morvan Dick, who had tickets for the Glasgow show, said she was “devastated” but acknowledged that Malik’s health must come first.

Ticket Refunds and Further Information

Customers who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster have been informed that refunds will be issued automatically. Tickets for the Manchester show will remain valid for the new date.

BBC Newsbeat has reached out to Malik’s team for further comment.
